Photography is the recording of momentary light.
Without light there is no photography.
When you first began to take photos, it was all about the subject. And as you progressed you began to look for the right light for your subject. And it was as you began to find the right light with the right subject you began finding the magic that happens within photography. What you were doing was “Taking Pictures”.
A studio allows you to control every aspect of the image. And the single most important aspect of control is the lighting. This class is an introduction to understanding the difference between “Taking Pictures” and “Making Photographs” and the techniques required to master that difference.

About Your Instructor: Will Fields is a commercial photographer in Grand Rapids who was based in Chicago for most of his 30 year career. A partial list of his clients include Sears (Catalog and Corporate), Cadillac, Hayworth, G.E, Motorola, Allstate, Anheuser Busch, Coldwell Banker and many others. He is known for the vivid sensuality of color within his style and has been published in numerous publications. His use of wit, humor and incorporation of the platonic question make him a natural, effective and popular teacher.
